Responding to customers’ concerns and requests with an accessible source of information

When shopping, customers have all kinds of opinions and requests they would like to express, and AEON Delight’s attendant service is there to address them. Our shopping attendants walk around the shopping mall offering guidance to shoppers and proactively approaching customers who appear to have concerns. While serving as a conveniently accessible source of information, our attendants also provide operational support to the shopping center by checking equipment, cleanliness, and security as they walk around the facility.

A next-generation service that exceeds customers' expectations

Our concept of having shopping attendants came from Akira Ogata of AEON Delight’s Security Operations Department. He surmised that attendants could help make customers feel safe, secure, and comfortable in ways that standard shopping mall services do not. His idea found enthusiastic support from Katsuya Mitani, a customer service representative with many years of experience at shopping centers, and together they launched this initiative. Their supposition proved to be on the mark: after shopping attendants were introduced, letters came in from shoppers all over the country describing their appreciation for the assistance they received from the attendants.

AEON Delight leads in the evolution
of shopping mall hospitality

Aiming to further enhance its services going forward, AEON Delight plans to make shopping malls in Japan more accessible to foreign tourists and residents who do not speak Japanese by offering multilingual information and services. We have also begun offering our shopping attendant service at shopping centers in other countries with a view to spread Japanese-style hospitality around the world. According to Mr. Mitani, “We are happy when we make our customers and store owners happy—that is the ideal situation for everyone.” To realize this vision of making shopping malls more enjoyable places to be, AEON Delight is leading the way in the evolution of hospitality.
